Sneaking Away Downeast
I got to get out painting this past weekend. A real treat for this father of a 3 month and 3 year old. And I really got out--about 3 hours down the coast towards Acadia National Park. I was in Deer Isle for a long weekend and had lovely weather throughout. In this photo, I was up before sunrise just watching the lobster boats head out and down the bay towards Isle Au Haut. When the sun came up, I was ready to go and got in a couple of hours of painting before breakfast. It's one of the most wonderful simple pleasures there is; to be at the start of the day and painting. How true it is, especially when you have small children. There is such a striking difference between the tumult of the family and the quiet concentration of an early morning painting. Nice to hear you had that experience.
