I envy those two weeks of rain. In Spain we have had one week very warm, because has arrived a suffocating wave of Saharan heat. All the day sweating and without sleep at night. Every year the same, 2 or 3 times. So Maine must be a good place to stay in summer.

Beautiful painting, Cooper. It's the sort of scene that makes me run for my paints too.

We live in the INLAND Northwest (north Idaho). It's beautiful here in summer with a good mix of hot days and cool nights and occasional thunderstorms (one tonight which we need).

We lived in the coastal Northwest (Oregon's Willamette Valley) before we moved here. You are right that there is a lot of rain west of the Cascades, but not in summer. Summers are dry... just when you need that rain for the garden.

The constant grey days, fog and drizzle all winter were a severe trial for me. I'm originally from Oklahoma and a week of rain is enough at one time. Then I need some sun shine and color!

Here in the UK, the summer was just awful last year.

This year it's been a bit better - we've had a lot of grey days but it's been warm and the rain has only been sporadic.

However, global warming means that Mediterranean weather is moving north so I have high hopes of our things improving!
