Notes from a Show
The show opening at "a.gallery" in Westport, Connecticut was great! The space is fantastic. Two rooms all painted white with a few pieces of very comfortable furniture and great lighting. Lots of wall space too which was a real treat since I can usually only see all my paintings from about 6 feet away in the studio. Nice to have a real place to hang them, especially after having spent so much time framing the week beforehand. Each piece has its own space and is lit properly. The opening was a blast--lots of familiar faces; friends and family, with terrific food and wine. I had a great time catching up with a lot of people and sold a few pieces too! Thanks to everyone who was there for your support, and to Antigone Trivellas for showing my work. The show will be up until July 21st.

Westport, Connecticut Gallery Opening Prep
The studio is a mountain of bubble wrap and framing materials today. I keep the car running in the driveway now in case I need to go to the store AGAIN. The desk is covered in checklists and receipts and empty cups of coffee. I can hardly get to the easel, as I'm getting ready for this weekend's opening at "a.gallery" in Westport, Connecticut. I'm really excited for it--many of you probably don't know that I grew up a few miles north of Westport, in Easton. And you probably didn't know the my father passed away a couple of years ago, and that after selling his house, I felt like I had said my final goodbyes to that part of my life. Although I have a lot of family in the area, we rarely get to see each other. So I'm thrilled to be the cause for an occasion for a small celebration back in my old hometown. (I'm guessing the opening will be more reunion than opening--especially when I mentioned to my family about the free food). The gallery owner called me out of the blue to see if I'd like to exhibit, but what really strikes me is that his gallery is literally across the street from where my dad got the train every morning for 30+ years to go to the city! My wife and I are going into the city for the weekend as well--it's been too long. In any event, I'm a bit straight out with framing and packaging and all the last minute things that need to get done. Thank you for all your support and I'll be sure to have a full report when I get home.
